About Lisa

Lisa standing lakeside at golden hour in a straw hat and a tee reading Create in Me a Pure Heart, Psalm 51:10

Before I create anything, I want to first be a receiver.

I love beginning my mornings in my secret place with a cup of hot dandelion root tea, my Bible, and my journal.

No producing. No striving.

Just sitting with God, listening and receiving.

For more than 40 years, I’ve made my living as a professional artist.

I learned how to come up with the idea, make the plan, meet the deadline, and create—even when inspiration wasn’t there.

I knew how to produce.

But I’m learning a different way now.

I don’t want to work for rest. I want to work from rest.

And that has changed everything in my world.

Because when I begin there, something beautiful happens.

As I move through my day, words come. Colors come. Images come.

An idea for a jacket. A phrase that needs to be painted. A picture in my mind that eventually finds its way onto a canvas, a wall, a Bible—or somewhere I never expected.

My love for color, texture, and the warm, weathered beauty of the Southwest has become part of the language of my work.

But I’m beginning to understand that what I love most isn’t simply creating something beautiful.

It’s revealing something that was already there.

A story. A promise. A piece of someone’s identity. Something God has been speaking that suddenly becomes visible.

Sometimes that happens through a hand-painted jacket.

Sometimes through a mural or a painting created during worship.

And sometimes it happens sitting beside someone who insists, “I’m not creative,” and getting to watch them discover that maybe they are.

I think that’s why I love gathering people around creativity so much.

Art has become a place for us to slow down, listen, remember, play, tell our stories, and notice beauty again.

I didn’t stop being a professional artist.

I changed the source I create from.

So this little corner of the world—Lisa Dinkins Designs—is where I share what I’m receiving and creating along the way.

My hope is that something you find here helps you see a little more clearly what has been there all along.

With love,
Lisa Love
